How it works

Airbnb gives Superhosts a ~$100 travel coupon each year. If you're not taking a trip, it often goes unused. Superhost Swap connects you with another Superhost nearby so you can both turn that coupon into cash, without packing a bag or spending the night anywhere new.

You don't actually stay in each other's homes

Airbnb only lets you use the coupon on a real booking. So you and your match each make a one-night booking at the other's listing, apply the coupon at checkout, and skip the visit entirely. It's a way to cash in the coupon, not take a vacation. Your match gets paid about $100 from your booking, and you get paid about $100 from theirs.

A normal trip involves packing and checking in. This exchange is only a booking on Airbnb so the coupon can be used. Nobody checks in.

1. Join with your listing URL

Sign in with Google and paste your public Airbnb listing URL. This is required: your match opens that link to request a booking. We don't support manual address entry.

How to copy your listing URL

  1. Open your listing on Airbnb while signed in as a host
  2. Copy the URL from your browser. It should look like https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/12345678
  3. Paste it into Superhost Swap and load the preview

2. Find a Superhost

Browse the map for hosts sorted by distance. As more people join, nearby hosts are highlighted first.

3. Accept a match

When you both agree, we'll email you each other's contact info and listing URLs with reply-to headers so you can coordinate easily.

The big picture

Once you're matched, everything else happens between you and your match, mostly over text or email, then on Airbnb.

Superhost Swap sends an intro email to both hosts. You and your match coordinate dates directly. Bookings and coupons are handled on Airbnb.
Typical timeline: match on day one, coordinate over the next few days, complete Airbnb bookings the same week, done within two weeks.
Each host applies their coupon on a one-night booking at the other host's listing. Airbnb pays each host about one hundred dollars. Neither host actually stays.

How to complete the exchange on Airbnb

First, make sure each of you has claimed this year's Superhost travel coupon. Airbnb usually issues it after you maintain Superhost status for four consecutive quarters. It is for personal travel only: you cannot use it on your own listing.

  1. Claim your coupon from the Superhost reward email (look for "Check out your bonus") or at airbnb.com/hosting/rewards (a browser works best). After redeeming, it appears under Account → Payments & payouts → Coupons.
  2. Pick low-demand weeknights together (text or email): dates nobody plans to actually be there
  3. You send a booking request to your match's listing for 1 night
  4. In the message, ask them to set the nightly rate so the total is about $100 (your coupon amount). You won't be visiting.
  5. Your match does the same at your listing, also without staying
  6. At checkout, tap Manage coupons and apply your Superhost travel coupon before paying
  7. Neither of you checks in. Airbnb processes the booking, your match gets paid, and your coupon is used up.

Important: The coupon is single-use. Unused balance does not carry over. It expires one year after issuance. The amount varies by region and currency (~$100 in the US).
